Moose Riders Herd 301
We became an “official” herd on February 29, 2008. To date we have 45 members, and are still looking to increase that number. We have meetings every month; flyers are posted in the Lodge. We also have a bulletin board in the Family Center portion of the Lodge with flyers for other upcoming events. We are also part of the “E Moose” email notify program. We have a few fund raisers that are in the works, check the Lodge newsletter for some of the events.
We had officer elections in February. Mike Montgomery is the President, Donnie Paul the Vice-President, Chrissy Patterson is the Secretary/Treasurer, Jeff Bowman is Sergeant At Arms, Hugh Hogan and Henry Howard are Road Captains. Officer elections will be held in December to fill the seats that will be vacant in April of ’10.
Let us answer some of the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)….
· We are NOT a Biker Club or gang.
· You do not have to own a bike to join. No, it does not have to be a Harley. It doesn’t matter if you have a bike, it just matters that you are willing to help raise money for the Lodge charities or other worthwhile causes.
· We are like any other committee in the Lodge. The money that we raise goes to our Administrator, who then gives us a receipt and puts it into the General Fund (with a line item, or memo for Moose Riders) or cuts us a check to be given to the chosen charity for which the fund-raiser was held. Of course, like any other committee we collect for the Endowment Fund.
· You have to have a current Moose membership card in order to join the group. Officially you have to be 21 to be a Moose member. However, we are a family fraternity, and unofficially we have “Mini Moose” members. Our children help us with events just like any other member.
· The Moose Riders like to be seen in the community doing great things. We are in the business of promoting the Moose Lodge and the great work we all do for Mooseheart, Moosehaven, and our communities.
